Global Harvest Foods Ltd, a leading national manufacturer of wild bird, caged bird and backyard wildlife feed and the producer of the national Audubon Park® and Morning Song®* brands (*secured from The Scotts Company in 2014), has agreed to acquire Wild Bird Centers of America, Inc.

This development leverages Global Harvest Foods’ core competencies in supply chain, production capacity and food safety and positions Wild Bird Centers to better serve its Franchisee group with more competitive product sourcing, strong financial backing and increased operating expertise and commitment to grow the brand.

Wild Bird Centers will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, independently of Global Harvest Foods. Founder and US birding industry pioneer, George Petrides, Sr., will remain in a key Executive role and George Petrides, Jr. will continue to operate the Company from headquarters in Glen Echo, MD, as President and CEO, leading the existing Wild Bird Centers team.

"We are fortunate to join with Global Harvest Foods as an enthusiastic member of their growing family of birding businesses. As a top-tier birding company, they offer increased benefits and great resources to our franchisees and will help us expand our growth in the backyard bird-feeding industry."

-George Petrides, Jr., President and CEO, Wild Bird Centers of America

Global Harvest Foods, headquartered in Seattle, WA, was founded in 1982 by the Mills brothers out of a passion for wild birds. The company is solely focused on backyard wildlife and remains family owned today.

“This development brings together two family-run companies passionately dedicated to promoting and advancing the growth of the wild bird and backyard wildlife business. The exchange of expertise and resources creates terrific benefits for all parties involved.”

-  Dave Whitley, President and CEO, Global Harvest Foods
