Dr. Horn

DAVID J. HORN, Ph.D
Director of Research

Dr. Horn has conducted numerous research projects since 1989 in such areas as the impact of habitat fragmentation on grassland and forest birds, habitat selection, window-bird collisions, and backyard bird feeding studies.

Research projects conducted for Wild Bird Centers of America, Inc. include: How bird abundance at feeders is related to distance of a feeder from vegetative cover and housing, how the number of species of birds is influenced by the feeder/seed combinations present, the influence of color and design of a bird feeder on bird abundance, and window-bird collisions at houses and factors influencing their frequency.

Dr. Horn is currently an Assistant Professor of Biology at Millikin University in Decatur, IL and Principal Investigator of the landmark study PROJECT WILDBIRD, sponsored by the Wild Bird Feeding Industry Research Foundation. Find out more about Dr. Horn on his Greeting Page.
